The Long Haul

I’m in this for the long haul.
Painting, fine art, and the entire "art life" venture is a journey I embarked on many years ago. Over 40 years ago, I made a promise to myself that I would become a "real" artist—a fine artist and a full-time artist someday. Although there was a significant gap between that promise and fully committing to this life, my path has always been a creative one. My "real job" as a graphic designer for most of my adult life was fantastic; I loved (mostly) every minute of it. What I didn't realize during that time was how foundational graphic design would be for my work as a fine artist. In reality, there’s a very fine line between the two, which has become clear to me now (this is a topic for another time).
About seven years ago, I decided it was time to jump off the fine art cliff. With over 40 years of intention behind me, I began my descent into fine art. I say "descent" because this leap has terrified me; I fell quickly! It has forced me to examine myself in ways I never could have imagined, and I had no idea how personal this path would be or how profoundly it would affect me.
I am getting better at learning from these experiences, becoming more resilient, and maintaining a positive outlook. I am fully committed to this path and am grateful for all its gifts, both the easy and the challenging. If you resonate with what I’ve been doing, I thank you!
I’m in this for the long haul, and nothing is going to stop me on this journey!
